A Wonderful Day

Author's Note: Have you ever wished that you didn't have to go to school and all you wanted to do was stay home and sleep in? In this story that's exactly what happens to me.

WHOOOSH the snow was blowing around outside. I was as happy as a lark, why you ask? Over the night a snow blizzard broke out, it was still going when I woke up. As I was getting ready to go to school I asked my mom what the weather was going to be like today and she asked me “why are you getting ready for school?” Then I said “Because it is a Thursday we have school today.”  Then the weather update came up and it said all the names of the schools that were closed and I saw Pewaukee. That truly made me happy!

The Buzzer Beater

Author's Note: I love basketball and I hope that this story shows you that basketball is actually a really good sport.

Dribble, dribble, you could hear as I came down the court. 10, 9, 8, 7….1, “shoot” the crowd yelled. As I shot from beyond the arc the buzzer went off. We waited for a second as the ball swooshed through the net. The crowd and my team stormed the court. Urrr urr urr I could hear my alarm clock going off as I opened my eyes. As I lay in bed I say to myself today “your team and you are going to win the tournament.” I got up ready to go to my tourney and my mom wasn’t ready. So I asked her “why aren’t you ready or at least getting ready?” She said to me your tournament doesn’t start till noon. I looked at the clock and it said 9:30AM. As I was sitting there in my room watching T.V. I glanced at the clock once more… it said 11:15. I ran into my mom’s room saying “let’s go” mom. With a sad look upon my mom’s face she said to me “honey I just got an e-mail from coach, your tournament has been cancelled due to something that went wrong at the school. So I said to myself “well I guess I can go back to bed then!”

Christmas Cookies

Author's Note: I love making Christmas cookies that is my second favorite thing about christmas. It is so fun when you get to spend time with your family doing something you love.

Every Christmas, every year my aunt and grandma make Christmas cookies. I love all the different kinds and shapes that they make. Candy canes, chocolate chip, crescent, peanut butter bars, lemon bars, toffee bars and rice crispy bars. I love all of those cookies but my favorite cookie of them all is the rice crispy bars. Also my grandma makes rice crispy bars and puts a peanut butter/ chocolate topping on top!! I always wish that they would make them when I come down for Christmas because when they are making all the cookies I bet and I know that the kitchen smells amazing!!

The Perfect Fairytale

Author's note: What you are going to be reading about is a excellent story about a fairytale.

Have you ever wished that you could listen to your parents and not make them mad? Well in this book, Ella Enchanted that’s what pretty much happens to Ella. It starts out with Ella as a little baby, crying non-stop and just in time her fairy godmother Lucinda pays a visit. Just when Ella would not stop crying her fairy godmother comes and visits them. Since she is a fairy godmother she can give a magical gift to her. Lucinda's gift to Ella was the gift of obedience. From now on Ella can not say No to a command because of her fairy godmother’s “gift.”

If I were in Ella’s position of having the gift of obedience I would not be able to survive with everyone telling me commands and having to do everything they command. Think about this if someone that hated your guts so much and they knew about your “gift” (curse) they could really use that against you! For example if you made fun of them or they were trying to act all cool and they say something such as “I command you to cut off your head immediately.” Your life would end instantly. I would be in danger at all times every single day. Now you and I know how Ella feels.

Ella’s life is pretty much in a very dangerous place at all times because of her gift. Think about this if someone told you to stay right where you are and say you were standing in the middle of the road for some reason and a car was coming and you were stuck in the middle of the road and it could run over you if it didn’t stop! Honestly I would hate to be Ella or even be in her position.
Personally in conclusion I like the book better because I can visualize it and I feel like it has more vivid language. Also in comparison to the movie I think that there are more things added to the book that makes the book more fascinating. In the movie they have cool objects but there is more facts more life in it.

Our World Today

Authours Note: You are going to be reading about our country. I am really proud of our country because
of what they do for us. If you don't think that patriotism is important in our country you are wrong. It is
because if we didn't have patriotism where would we be now?

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of America”, are a few words that we say every day to show our thanks and to honor our soldiers for what they do for us. What do those words mean to you? To me they mean honor and pride.  If they don’t matter to you then you must not care enough about the world! If the soldiers didn’t fight for us where would we be now?

Thinking back to September 11th 2001, remembering all the awful things and stories about it. The thought of it makes me sad. Think about all those people who had to help clean up ground zero after what happened! What if that was you? What would you do if you were in that position? If I was in that position I would be happy because I get to be apart of helping with 9/11. Also it would be depressing because when you are cleaning everything up you would actually be cleaning up the ashes of the people that were in the incident of 9/11.  It took about 10 months to clean up both of the world trade centers.

James Anderson, Richard Anderson and William Adams, are a few people of veterans that fought for us in the Vietnam War. We can honor our soldiers in a lot of ways but this is the one day that everyone all over the world celebrates Veterans Day. One thing that we can do to honor our soldiers and veterans is to sort of throw a Thank You party for all the veterans of our world. What we do here in Pewaukee is, we have a few veterans that fought from each war and invite them to come to our school for a little appreciation day. When the assembly for the veterans start we all stand up and the veterans walk in while a teacher plays the national anthem on the trumpet. Then later on we introduce the veterans and then some volunteers go up and read an essay they wrote for veterans day in honor of the veterans. It means a lot to the veterans when they come in and see what we have gotten ready for them.

On December 7th 1941 at 7:55am (hawii time) a tragedy struck. The Japenese attacked the USA, we had gotten a surprise attack. A lot of people were killed or were injured badly. Many people suffered the loss of theirs loved ones. One thing that is actually not that bad about this war is that we were able to fight back and take pride in our country.

Patriotism is a good thing to have in a country. If we didn’t have it where would our country be now? How would our country look? All these questions come to mind when you think about patriotism. I would say that I am really proud of our country and what it has done for us.

The Truth Haunted Halloween

Author's Note: What you are going to be reading about today is, a essay about why Halloween is the best holiday. You might agree with me now but trust, me you will in the end.

What is your favorite holiday? You might say that Christmas or your birthday is the best holiday in the world. But I would have to disagree because I think that Halloween is the best holiday in the world. Halloween is the most creative and fun holiday there was ever made.

I believe that Halloween is the best holiday in the world because you get to hang out with your friends and get to dress up as your favorite character from your favorite movie or as your favorite animal. Christmas is a good holiday but it just isn’t the best holiday. You don’t get to dress up as your favorite character or hang out with your family. Birthdays are great but there not the best. You don’t get to hang out with your friend’s, yeah you get to hang out with your family and the ones you love and care most about but you don’t get to dress up and go out trick-or-treating.

Halloween was invented in 1904 when the Germans first thought of it. Also the year when the ice-cream cone and banana split were invented. I just love how you get to  dress up as whatever you want for Halloween. I believe that it is the most creative thing a human-being could create for a holiday because you can design your own costume and go and have a blast with your friends while getting candy.

Candy is a great and yummy treat to have around but it isn’t the best food to eat, but it is a tasty treat. Halloween is a great holiday because you get to have candy, this might be a regular thing for some people because their parents let them have candy whenever they want but for other people this may not be the case. For some kids this is a treat, because they don’t get this thing often. Sure you can always ask for candy for Christmas or your birthday but its not as much fun as hanging out with your friends while getting a nice treat.

Halloween is a great holiday because of the few things that I just told you about it. Now if you still don’t believe that Halloween isn’t the best holiday in the world that’s fine because we all have our own opinions, and that’s mine.
