Our World Today

Authours Note: You are going to be reading about our country. I am really proud of our country because
of what they do for us. If you don't think that patriotism is important in our country you are wrong. It is
because if we didn't have patriotism where would we be now?

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of America”, are a few words that we say every day to show our thanks and to honor our soldiers for what they do for us. What do those words mean to you? To me they mean honor and pride.  If they don’t matter to you then you must not care enough about the world! If the soldiers didn’t fight for us where would we be now?

Thinking back to September 11th 2001, remembering all the awful things and stories about it. The thought of it makes me sad. Think about all those people who had to help clean up ground zero after what happened! What if that was you? What would you do if you were in that position? If I was in that position I would be happy because I get to be apart of helping with 9/11. Also it would be depressing because when you are cleaning everything up you would actually be cleaning up the ashes of the people that were in the incident of 9/11.  It took about 10 months to clean up both of the world trade centers.

James Anderson, Richard Anderson and William Adams, are a few people of veterans that fought for us in the Vietnam War. We can honor our soldiers in a lot of ways but this is the one day that everyone all over the world celebrates Veterans Day. One thing that we can do to honor our soldiers and veterans is to sort of throw a Thank You party for all the veterans of our world. What we do here in Pewaukee is, we have a few veterans that fought from each war and invite them to come to our school for a little appreciation day. When the assembly for the veterans start we all stand up and the veterans walk in while a teacher plays the national anthem on the trumpet. Then later on we introduce the veterans and then some volunteers go up and read an essay they wrote for veterans day in honor of the veterans. It means a lot to the veterans when they come in and see what we have gotten ready for them.

On December 7th 1941 at 7:55am (hawii time) a tragedy struck. The Japenese attacked the USA, we had gotten a surprise attack. A lot of people were killed or were injured badly. Many people suffered the loss of theirs loved ones. One thing that is actually not that bad about this war is that we were able to fight back and take pride in our country.

Patriotism is a good thing to have in a country. If we didn’t have it where would our country be now? How would our country look? All these questions come to mind when you think about patriotism. I would say that I am really proud of our country and what it has done for us.
